High-performance titanium alloy plates and foils can not only be used in the aerospace field, but also can be expanded to the coating materials of aerospace electronic equipment, mobile phone folding screens, hydrogen fuel cell bipolar plates and other fields.

Aerospace vehicles

Titanium alloy plates and foils are widely used in aerospace vehicles, such as honeycomb panels, sandwich panels, etc., which are essential materials for lightweight, high-strength and high-temperature resistant structural parts. However, with the introduction of hypersonic aircraft design concepts and research and development requirements, the demand for lightweight structures and high-temperature resistant titanium alloy plates and foils has also increased accordingly. Traditional TA2, TA3 pure titanium and TA18, TC1 alloy plates and foils can no longer meet the use requirements in high temperature and high stress environments. TC4 alloy and Ti2AlNb alloy can withstand operating temperatures of 350~500℃ and 500~750℃ respectively, with higher strength and stiffness, better heat resistance, and better corrosion resistance and fatigue performance. The use of high-performance titanium alloy plates can improve the specific strength and heat resistance of aerospace vehicle structural parts, thereby improving the overall performance of the aircraft and providing a material basis for the new generation of hypersonic aircraft.

In addition, the processing technology of metal materials is relatively mature. High-precision complex flow fields can be manufactured through stamping, die-casting and laser forming, which makes it easy to achieve large-scale production of plates. Therefore, metal bipolar plates are the mainstream choice of bipolar plate materials for hydrogen fuel cells.

Among metal materials, stainless steel, aluminum alloy and titanium alloy are common bipolar plate materials. Among them, titanium and titanium alloys have low density and high specific strength. They have excellent corrosion resistance in hydrogen fuel cells, which can significantly reduce the weight and volume of bipolar plates, thereby greatly improving the mass-power ratio and volume-power ratio of batteries. At the same time, the corrosion products produced by titanium and titanium alloys during use are less toxic to proton exchange membranes and catalysts, which helps to improve the stability and durability of batteries.
