Zirconium tungsten electrode is a kind of electrode developed to improve the defect that pure tungsten electrode is easy to melt and pollute the workpiece under high load welding conditions. The biggest feature of this electrode is that under the condition of high load current, the end of this electrode can remain spherical to reduce tungsten penetration, and has good corrosion resistance.
Zirconium tungsten electrode contains a small amount of zirconia (ZrO2). The welding characteristics of zirconium tungsten electrode are generally located between pure tungsten electrode and thorium tungsten electrode. In AC welding,
zirconium tungsten electrode is the most commonly used because it is easier to start arc than pure tungsten, and the arc beam is stable. It can also prevent pollution, and the current carrying capacity is good. From the perspective of performance, zirconium tungsten electrode is the best non radioactive tungsten electrode in general.
