    Selection of electrode materials for electrolytic water disinfection

    It is not difficult to know from the above that electrolytic water disinfection technology depends to a certain extent on the selection of electrode materials. And hydroxyl radical is a very active substance, the existence of a short time. Therefore, it is necessary to choose an electrode material that can produce the substance in large quantities. In the process of research and development in the product r&d room of Unitron and in cooperation with many customers, several electrode materials were tested, among which titanium ruthenium-iridium coating and titanium platinum-plated anode performed better. Due to its excellent electrocatalytic activity, the ruthenium-iridium mixed oxide coating is coated on the surface of titanium substrate by a special process, which has both corrosion resistance and high electrolysis efficiency. It can be designed to use an inverted pole to avoid and alleviate scaling in areas with hard water quality.

    This method only needs to choose the electrode with high electrocatalytic activity, without adding other substances, the electrolyte is tap water, low reaction conditions, suitable for the daily home.

    Cause of electrode failure

    1:coating shedding

    If the coating is not firmly bonded to the substrate and falls off from the titanium substrate to a certain extent, the titanium-ruthenium-iridium anode will lose its effect.

    2:Cracks in the coating

    During electrolysis, new ecological oxygen was generated on the titanium anode, and part of it discharged at the interface between the active coating and the electrolyte, and then left the anode surface to generate oxygen into the solution.Due to cracks in the active coating, another part of oxygen is adsorbed on the anode surface and reaches the interface between the coating and titanium matrix through diffusion or migration. Then oxygen is chemically adsorbed on the surface of titanium matrix and generates non-conductive oxide film (TiOz) with titanium, producing reverse resistance. Or the electrolyte invades through the cracks of the coating, the titanium matrix is slowly oxidized, and the interface of the titanium active coating is corroded so that the titanium active coating falls off, leading to the increase of the anode potential of the titanium. The increase of potential further promotes the dissolution of coating and the oxidation of titanium matrix.

    3:RuO2 solution

    To reduce the occurrence of oxygen, can slow down the formation of oxide film. When total electrolysis current density increases, the speed of gas generation is much bigger than oxygen generating speed increases, so the current density increased to reduce oxygen content in gas.
