Monel 400 corrosion resistant:
Monel 400 is virtually immune to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking in typical environments. Generally, its corrosion resistance is very good in reducing environments, but poor in oxidizing conditions. It is not useful in oxidizing acids, such as nitric acid and nitrous. Nevertheless, it is resistant to most alkalis, salts, waters, food products, organic substances and atmospheric conditions at normal and elevated temperatures.
This nickel alloy is attacked in sulfur-bearing gases above approximately 700° F and molten sulfur attacks the alloy at temperatures over approximately 500° F.
Monel 400 offers about the same corrosion resistance as nickel but with higher maximum working pressures and temperatures and at a lower cost due to its superior ability to be machined.
Monel alloy usage
The structure of Monel 400 alloy is high-strength single-phase solid solution and single-phase austenite . It is a corrosion resistant alloy with the largest amount, the most widely used and excellent comprehensive performance. This alloy exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in hydrofluoric acid and fluorine gas media, as well as excellent corrosion resistance to hot concentrated alkaline solution. At the same time, it is also resistant to corrosion from neutral solutions, water, seawater, atmosphere, organic compounds, etc. An important feature of this alloy is that it generally does not produce stress corrosion cracks and has good cutting performance. This alloy is mainly used for valve stems, pump shafts and impellers, conveyor scrapers, oil well drilling rings, elastic components, valve pads, etc.
Mechanical properties of Monel alloy
This alloy does not have a plastic brittle transition temperature, so it is very suitable for manufacturing various low-temperature equipment. Welding can improve the strength of the alloy, but reduce its plasticity. Therefore, in order to maintain high plasticity, Monel K500 alloy needs to undergo heat treatment after welding

5. Transfer to the furnace. The melted ore is usually transferred at the copper mine, which can better control the details of smelting and make the finished product more reliable and consistent.
6. Cooling. Production personnel manipulate the controller inside the furnace to allow the molten pool to flow out of the furnace while cooling it. Drying and cooling processes typically occur to complete lifelike processes.
7. Integer. Finally, shape the cooled alloy according to the desired shape and size. This often includes processing methods such as rolling, casting, forging, and stretching to produce the desired shape and form.
