RDX is a high explosive. The wastewater generated in the production process of RDX has the characteristics of high COD, high toxicity and difficult degradation. The electrochemical method for treating RDX wastewater has the advantages of good catalytic performance, simple operation, efficient degradation process and environmental friendliness). We made a self-made Ti/SnO2-RuO2 electrode as an anode to degrade RDX in wastewater. The results showed that under the conditions of pH=7, current density i=15mA/Lm2, and electrolyte Na2SO4 mass concentration of 5g/L, the removal rate of RDX in 100mL wastewater with a mass concentration of 50mg/L was as high as 82.55%, and the removal rate of COD could reach 55.41%.
A large amount of phenol-containing wastewater will be generated in the production process of explosives. Phenol is highly toxic and difficult to biodegrade. It has the advantages of high degradation efficiency, no need for external oxidants, simple equipment, etc., and the anode itself can produce strong oxidants, no need for external catalysts, and no secondary pollution in the process of degrading phenols and organic matter. We used our own RuO2-IrO2-SnO2/Ti electrode as anode and titanium electrode as cathode to treat phenol explosive wastewater, and found that the optimal degradation conditions were: i=30mA/Lm2, NaCl concentration of 13g/L, pH=5, T=25°C. Under this condition, the degradation lasted for 60 minutes, and the removal rates of phenol, TOC, and COD could reach 99.85%, 53.55%, and 59.37%, respectively.
