1. Impressed current cathode protection method
Impressed current positive pole protection uses an impressed current to make the entire surface of the protected metal structure a cathode. If the metal equipment is subjected to impressed current cathodic protection, the metal is connected to the negative pole of an external power supply with a wire, and the other auxiliary anode is connected to the positive pole of the power supply. At this time, the current passing through the auxiliary anode, after flowing through the electrolyte solution, is mainly concentrated on the cathodic protection of the metal, causing the metal to undergo cathodic polarization. The current flows back to the power supply through the cathode, thereby reducing the total potential of the metal. If the applied protection current is large enough, the original anode on the protected structure will no longer dissolve. At this time, only the cathodic reduction reaction occurs on the metal surface, and the external current is applied to achieve complete protection. The selection of cathode materials is continuously developed and improved according to different usage conditions.

It has good conductivity and small surface output resistance. It is not corroded by the medium and is easy to process. It can be adapted to different environments, such as soil, pipelines and other media.

 

2. Sacrificial anode protection method
Sacrificial anode protection is to connect a metal with a more negative potential as an anode to the protected metal, which forms a large battery with the protected metal in the electrolyte. The anode flows into the metal equipment through the electrolyte, and polarizes the metal equipment to obtain corresponding protection.
