The most common lanthanum tungsten electrode contains 100% lanthanum oxide (la203), which is called lanthanum oxide. In Europe and Japan, lanthanum tungsten electrode has been the most commonly used alternative to thorium tungsten electrode in most applications. There are three kinds of lanthanum oxide: 2%, 1.5% and 1%. Lanthanum trioxide has the lowest electron escape work, the easiest arcing and the lowest tip temperature, which helps to prevent grain growth and improve service life. The test of lanthanum tungsten electrode containing 2% lanthanum shows that if there is no overload current, its service life is longer than that of thorium tungsten, and it is easier to start arc in most applications.

Especially good at (a) preventing thermal shock, (b) good welding in case of repeated ignition in short cycle welding, and (c) avoiding pollution. When welding pipes, welders are particularly satisfied with this lanthanum tungsten electrode. Reduce downtime due to long service life. Moreover, in general, the lanthanum tungsten electrode with 1.5% lanthanum oxide is also required. It is easy to start the arc at low current and can stabilize the arc at low current. Lanthanum in tungsten electrode is a rare earth and is not radioactive. This lanthanum tungsten electrode is mainly used for DC welding, and it will also have good results in AC welding. Lanthanum tungsten electrode refers to the electrode product with an appropriate amount of lanthanum oxide added to the tungsten base. In many cases, it is used to replace thorium tungsten electrode. According to the doping amount of lanthanum oxide, the color of the color code coating head of lanthanum tungsten electrode material is also different: the color code of 0.8-1.2% electrode (WL10) is black, the color code of 1.3-1.7% electrode (WL15) is golden yellow, and the color code of 1.8-2.2% electrode (wl20) is sky blue. The results show that lanthanum oxide can significantly improve the service life of lanthanum tungsten electrode because of its low electron escape work, easy arcing and low tip temperature.


The tungsten lanthanum electrode with a content of 1.5% (different from 2.0%) has the conductivity closest to that of the 2.0% tungsten thorium electrode. Therefore, the welder can easily replace the electrode without changing the parameters of the equipment.
