How to replace the speaker titanium diaphragm? Do you know?
1. Remove the old membrane.
The first step is to remove the old membrane. A cut is made on the suspension horizontal plane, followed by another cut on the cross shaft horizontal plane (rear suspension), followed by a rotation.
2. Seal the air gap with tape
Take care to plug the air gap (the slot that holds the coil) with tape to prevent dust from falling inside. The jack of this speaker is very wide. This is not the case with smaller models.
3. Scrape off residue with a knife.
The glue and remaining film must then be scraped off the external suspension and cross shaft. It's long and it creates some dirt.
4. Insert a piece of adhesive into the air gap.
After scraping, we wipe the bowl, which can then remove the protective adhesive. Check that no dust remains in the air gap. A strip of tape folded in half, through the middle, can accumulate residue.
5. Place the membrane in place.
The membrane can then be placed in place. It's easy to center. Insert the gasket supplied with the speaker
6. Glue external hangings.
Once the membrane is well centered, we can attach the outer suspension with neoprene glue (drying time is approximately 4 hours).
7. Glue the cross axis
The cross axes must then be glued. It's not very convenient even on such a large speaker.
8. Glue on the dust cover
The dust cover is also glued to the neoprene. It does not support any mechanical stress. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on the aesthetics (centered, the right amount of glue). Do the same for the outer seal.
9. Weld the cable to the wiring panel
You will still need to solder the cable to attach it to the patch board...... That's it. It's over. You'll get a new speaker
10. Wait 8 hours and then reconnect the speaker.
Wait about 8 hours for the adhesive to stabilize before reconnecting the speaker. Running-in is necessary to soften the suspension. It takes about 50 hours.
