To perform electroplating yourself, you need to prepare the following equipment and materials:

Here is an example of the steps for electroplating copper:
1. First, remove dust, oil and activate the workpiece.
2. Connect the positive pole of the high-frequency switching power supply to a titanium basket with a red copper ball, which is suspended in the plating solution.
3. Suspend the workpiece in the plating solution and connect it to the negative pole of the high-frequency switching power supply. Make sure that the positive and negative poles are not short-circuited.
4. Turn on the high-frequency switching power supply and adjust the voltage of the constant voltage gear to five to six volts. You will see many small bubbles around the workpiece (this is the phenomenon of ions turning into atoms). After a few minutes, turn off the power supply and lift the workpiece. At this time, you should be able to see that copper has been electroplated on it to form an electroplating layer.
5. The electroplating solution already contains copper ions. When electricity is turned on, copper ions carry positive charges. After obtaining negative electrons at the negative electrode, they are reduced to copper atoms and adsorbed on the workpiece to form an electroplated layer. At the same time, the red copper balls in the titanium basket will electrolyze to produce copper ions and add them to the electroplating solution.
6. The process of electroplating nickel or zinc is similar to the above steps.
7. Electroplating chromium mainly uses specific potions. The positive electrode is connected to a large lead plate placed in the electroplating solution (to improve efficiency and electroplating effect). The temperature of the plating solution needs to be controlled. Sometimes titanium electric heating tubes are used for heating, and sometimes ice machines are used to cool by circulating cold water because the plating solution will heat up during the electroplating process.

The choice of electroplating power supply is usually based on high-frequency switching power supply, and the current requirement ranges from 2000A12V to 15000A12V, depending on the size of the workpiece. Electroplating chrome usually requires a voltage of 15V to 18V, while the voltage requirement for electrophoresis is generally 100V to 200V.
The surface quality of the titanium basket is good and it is not easy to corrode. The colors of the titanium basket are different, some are black, some are silver and yellow, because the surface is coated with a layer of metal to prevent corrosion and extend the service life.
